Via Dolorosa at 2010 Världens Fest (Festival of the World) in Sweden

On Friday 4th June, David Sparrow will be presenting the Via Dolorosa at the Festival, which takes place from 4th to 6th June in Växjö, the cathedral city of the Church of Sweden Diocese linked with the Anglican Diocese of Oxford. This will be its second outing in Sweden this year, having been shown as part of the Holy Week devotions in Växjö. Download the Festival programme

Festival of Dialogue 2010 launches

Last year, Art Beyond Belief ran a successful Festival of Dialogue in Slough. This year we are organizing further events across the Thames Valley in conjunction with SEEFF. There will be a number of round table discussions organized across the area, followed by a conference in Slough on 22nd May. Looking Glass exhibition at West Wing Arts Centre

The exhibition of work by adults attending the Therapeutic Day Unit at Wexham Park Hospital, produced as part of our Looking Glass programme, will be at the West Wing Arts Centre in Stoke Road, Slough throughout October. There will be an open event on Thursday 15th October between 3pm and 5pm – all are welcome. The programme is part of ABB’s Art Monitor project, funded by Art Council England, which helps people from a range of different backgrounds address issues of self-confidence and self-determination through computer-based art.

An exhibition of work by adults attending the Therapeutic Day Unit at Wexham Park Hospital, produced as part of our Looking Glass programme, will be at Slough Museum from 8th July and for the rest of the month, and can be seen during normal museum opening hours. The official launch will take place on Monday 13th July between 3pm and 8pm – all are welcome. The programme is part of ABB’s Art Monitor project, funded by Art Council England, which helps people from a range of different backgrounds address issues of self-confidence and self-determination through computer-based art.

Exhibition of work by young people from Wexham School’s Autism Resource Base – Slough Library

An exhibition of work by young people from Wexham School’s autism resource base. produced as part of our Art Monitor programme, will be launched at Slough LIbray on Wednesday 20th May. The pupils have taken photographs in and around Slough and used them as the basis of Comic-style pages, adding their own words, thoughts and comments to tell their stories. Explains ABB’s David Sparrow:
“Our Comic project with Wexham tackled lack of self-confidence and has helped promote a wider understanding of Asperger Syndrome, and the issues these creative young people face. Through Comic-based stories they were able to explore at their own pace situations that make them happy, sad, uncomfortable or confident.”
The project is part of ABB’s Art Monitor programme, funded by Art Council England, which helps people from a range of different backgrounds address issues of self-confidence and self-determination through computer-based art.

Family Links Nurturing Programme – new programme at Stoke Poges Lane Mosque Slough

A new Family Links programme begins on 18th April at Stoke Poges Lane Mosque. Sessions are weekly for ten weeks, from 4.30 to 7pm each Saturday, and are facilitated by Azhar and Rosie Khan. Materials are provided and a crèche is available. Men, women and couples are welcome. To book, or for more information, email azhark62@hotmail.com.

Benefit Concert in aid of multicultural Intergratsia School in the Holy Land – 30th March, London

There will be a concert on Monday 30th March at 6.30pm at St Marylebone Chuch in Baker Street, London, in aid of the Intergratsia School in the Holy Land. The concert will be a commemoration and tribute to all children ‘for the health and wealth of all nations reswt on upon its children’. Bishop Riah Abu El-Assal, former Bishop of Jerusalem will give a keynote address.

Continuing Dialogue events planned for spring 09
